TIPS and STEPS to install MAC OS X LION 10.7.1 on your PC

Use the iAtkos L1 10.7.1 dvd for installation.

1. if u have snow leopard, then download ToastTitaninum and burn the dvd

if u use windows, then download Transmac and burn the dvd

2. It will take about 1 hour for installation



General Steps:

1. Download everest ultimate for windows and find the specification of the following
  a) video-eg. nvidia 210
  b)audio-eg. ALC883
  c)ethernet-eg. RTL8168

2. If u have a ps2 keyboard and mouse, then borrow a usb keyboard and mouse from ur friend, because u will need them till installation and don't forget to use the ps2 patch while installation for ps2 support

3. Don't select drivers for video during ur first installation attempt, use only GRAPHICS ENABLER, because this itself supports many graphics cards. Use specific patches ,only in case of graphics enabler fails

4. Select the required audio and ethernet patches during the installation

5. Thats it, finish the installation. It should then reboot fine.

DUAL BOOTING:

Its always safe and better to install on a separate hard disk , but most of us can't afford to it, so here are a few tips on how to install mac on a same hard disk.

Installing on hd with windows already installed:

1. Better have ur windows installed perfectly.

2. If u use MBR partition, u should have installed windows on ur first partition.

3. Then install mac on another partition.

How it boots:

if u turn on the computer, windows will be loaded automatically

if u want to boot lion, then u have to boot from ur iatkos dvd and press f8  for startup options and select the partition on which u have installed lion.
(this is how i boot my lion)

Installing on an empty hd:

1. Use MBR partitioning and install lion on the first partition

2. Then install windows on any other partition

How it boots:

if u turn on the computer, the chameleon boot loader will be loaded default, when u press any key , it asks for ur option to boot which partition u want to.


Basic Troubleshooting:

1. Use '-v' startup command while booting to find what is the specific error instead of saying that my screen remain black.

2. After finding the error, goto the official forum of Uphuck(creator of iatkos dvd) http://uphuck.ggrn.org/forum/, where u can definitely find a solution. DONT waste ur time on google.

3. If none of the patches from the dvd supports u, then install without the patches for any device. After installation, goto www.kexts.com, where u can definitely find the proper patch for all ur video, audio and ethernet devices.

4. Don't ever copy a kext manually, always use 'Kext Utility'.

5. If the kext did not load properly, then boot with the startup command '-f'. This will help to some extent.

6. If any thing goes messy, then try to boot in safe mode using '-x' startup command. If booting in safe mode also fails, then use 'MAC DRIVE'(a windowssoftware used to access ur mac drive) after booting ur windows, remove the kext which caused the crash and replace it with the correct one.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

Take pic of ur error and post it in the upchuck forum http://uphuck.ggrn.org/forum/ and wait for a appropriate solution.

If anything goes beyond repair, then reinstallation is the only way.

DONT GIVEUP WITHOUT TRYING FOR ATLEAST THREE TIMES.

Updating:


If u have successfully installed 10.7.1, then u can update directly to 10.7.2 via software update itself.

If u have suffered from any serious error like 'PCI configuration begins error' during installation, then this problem will rise again after updating, and it can be rectified by applying appropriate patches.


I have written this guide from my personal experience and  knowledge which i have gained during the installation of leopard, snow leopard and lion during the past 2 years.

Motherboard: Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L
Video           : NVidia Geforce 210
Audio           : Realtek(ALC883) and MAudio audiophile 2496(Envy24)
